The Spring Recreational season generally runs from mid-January to the end of April.
This season is for new and returning players who are looking to play softball in a competitive and fun environment. Practices are typically 1 day per week but in some cases the coach may choose to have an additional field or batting practice.
LNGS additionally offers various clinics (batting, pitching, fielding, coaching) throughout the season that are either partially or fully sponsored by the league.
All adults who interact with the players on the field or in the dugout in practices or in games must fill out the annual USA Softball Background check form. Please click on the link below.

For more information on face masks, see our web page here.
We have updated our face mask policy as follows:
Please see Snack Bar Buyout information below for additional refundable fee.
A payment plan is available with $50 due at registration and the following two payments split over February and March.
Season - Practices will start in the second half of January and games will start around the beginning of February, and will be every Saturday for all teams. Games will additionally be played every Wednesday evening for 10U, 12U and 14U starting at the beginning of the season. 8U will add Wednesday evening games after the mid-season tournament.
Divisions for 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U will attend required evaluations prior to the beginning of the season. Please make sure your player knows that the evaluations are nothing to be nervous about. They simply allow the league to make sure that each team is "drafted" and the teams are created with fairly equal abilities.
With the exception of players who have never pitched before, all players who would like to pitch during the Spring season must attend pitching evaluations. This process enables the coaches to make educated decisions regarding their pitching staff during the draft process.
Please see the Evaluations page for more info.
A player can request to play up but the ability to play up to the next division is not guaranteed. In order to play up, the player must:
If a player is not chosen in the top 3 draft rounds in the play-up division, she will be placed in her age-appropriate division.
A player of 6u age is eligible to play up to 8U in the Spring recreational season in the following scenarios:
If you are registering more than one player in your family, you will receive a $20 discount on the 2nd (3rd + all additional children) registration fee. In order for the registration system to recognize that you are registering multiple players, please register all of your players at this time.
The snack bar allows the league to make money that enables us to keep our fees very low.
Parents are obligated to work two three hour shifts in the snack bar for each player during the Spring season. Siblings may fulfill this obligation if they are 16 or over.
Families have the option to buy out* of the snack bar obligation for a fee of $80 ($40 per shift). If you have more than one player, the maximum you are required to pay is $120.
*All families will be assessed the buyout fee during the registration process. The fees will be refunded to you after each completed snack bar shift ($40 per shift).
POTENTIAL HEAD COACHES ONLY! Please choose the option to buy out. Head coaches are not required to work or buy out of snack bar service and you will be reimbursed after the teams are formed.
LNGS and all local softball leagues operate under a draft system for the Spring season. For this reason, it is not possible to accommodate friend requests with the exception of the two circumstances outlined below. However, you will find that one of the best parts of recreational softball is all the new lifelong friends your player will find on the team she ends up on.
Friend requests are only allowed for the following two circumstances.
Only ONE friend request is allowed and please note that if multiple girls request the same friend it will not be possible to honor all the requests. We will do the best we can but can not guarantee placement with the requested friend.
For an 8U friend request to be considered, the new player MUST attend player evaluations.
Please email the league at firstname.lastname@example.org and put "Friend Request" in the subject line of the email only if you fall into one of the following two categories (if you do not put "Friend Request" in the subject line then your request may not be processed).
Before evaluations refunds will be granted with a $25 processing fee.
On the day of evaluations and thereafter no refunds will be granted.
