Spring Select

The Spring Select program, is an approximately 6-week (UPDATE - THIS TIME FRAME WILL BE UPDATED PENDING THE USA SOFTBALL FINAL SCHEDULE PUBLISH) competitive program for the 10U and 12U divisions that is intended to prepare our players to potentially participate in the All-Star program.  The Spring Select program is NOT a requirement for All Stars and participation in the Spring Select program does not guarantee a spot on the All Star team.

The Spring Select program is in ADDITION to the Spring Season play and Select teams will play doubleheaders on Sundays against other competitive teams throughout the Orange County area. In addition, there will be one or two tournaments scheduled. Players do not need to be present for every weekend, but they do need to give the coach notice when they will not be available.

Similar to Fall Select, the Spring Select team will be "selected" by the Coaches and division Reps, and not all players may be chosen to participate. There is also no guarantee for playing time or positions.

Costs: There will be an additional cost to participate in the Select program, estimated around $100 per player to cover the additional umpire, uniform shirt, field, and tournament fees.

USA Softball Select Program Description

The Select Program was established to provide an additional opportunity for players who wish to improve their softball skills beyond the regular league season.  This program is for 10U through 14U players who wish to improve their softball skills and thereby benefit themselves as well as their league.  The Select program will be in effect January 1 through March 31 of the current season.

Select Player Eligibility

  • Select players must be individually registered with a recreational league.
  • Select players must be drafted onto an active recreational league team roster in the current season.
  • Select players must play in a minimum of 75% of the leagues scheduled games during the current season.

Select Team Eligibility

  • Select teams may be established in the 10U, 12U, and 14U age classifications only.
  • The team roster may include up to 20 players.
  • Participation is limited to one day per week.
  • Select teams may not have more than four players who have participated on a travel type team after February 1 of the current season.
  • Select teams shall be comprised of players form a single Recreational league.
  • Select teams must be approved by the league Board of Directors.
